Pool Automation, Operating Modes and Lighting

Automation can control compatible pumps, valves, heating, sanitation, lighting and water features. It does not correct poor hydraulics or replace proper startup programming.

Reading Time: 5 Mins

Automation should make a coordinated pool system easier to use. It can control compatible pumps, valves, heating, sanitation, lighting and water features, but it cannot correct poor hydraulics or replace qualified startup programming.

Choose the system around the operating plan

Artistix commonly uses a Jandy AquaLink automation backbone with iAquaLink app access. A compatible dedicated interface may also be appropriate for the installed configuration.

The supported functions depend on the selected power center, circuits, auxiliaries, valve actuators and compatible equipment. Discuss the actual functions required for this pool rather than assuming every system offers the same controls.

Name the experiences clearly

Useful operating modes are recognizable: normal filtration, spa use, spa heating, a water feature or evening lighting. The homeowner should understand what each mode does without coordinating a confusing sequence of individual commands.

Pool and spa operation may require different pump and valve states. Heating and feature operation should be coordinated with the installed equipment, plumbing and controls. Final programming must follow the applicable manuals and qualified startup.

Understand schedules and safeguards

Schedules coordinate routine filtration, sanitation and the experiences the owners want to use. Appropriate configuration and interlocks help avoid incompatible equipment states.

Ask which settings are intended for ordinary owner use and which should remain with the service professional. Manual-operation fallback and service contacts belong in the handoff, alongside app access.

Coordinate lighting before choosing scenes

RGB capability allows different scenes where specified, but color choice does not replace fixture placement. Pool geometry, shelves, steps, finishes and sightlines influence how the water appears illuminated.

A restrained, useful scene can be more effective than a complex list of effects. The control plan should correspond to the atmosphere and functions planned for the backyard.

Leave with an understandable handoff

The handoff should explain account ownership and app access, named modes, basic schedules, heater and sanitation cautions, manual fallback, service contacts and the warranty information for the installed package.

A short operating demonstration is useful only when it corresponds to the final settings and actual equipment. Keep those records accessible for future service.
